Dreamers... Justin and Bitty
(original from Backstage Hawaii)
From his first "jam" with his friends at Kalaheo
High school, Justin has gone after his dreams with vigor, and, with five
albums to his credit
"The
Dreaming Kind" proves dreams can come true. His friend Bitty
Mclean, from another island on the other side of the world, is also
"the dreaming kind." As a studio engineer working in UB40's studio
in Birmingham, England in the early nineties, Bitty began recording his own
music between UB40's recording sessions. His two solo projects went gold and
platinum and numerous single releases have hit the top of international
charts.
Justin admired Bitty's recordings and when Bitty first heard
Justin's music, he liked "his vibe," so Neos Productions brought
them together. "Put them together, shake them up and see what comes
out," said producer Bob St. John.
The recipe blended well... Justin will release his sixth CD
featuring Bitty on July 12th, The Dreaming Kind, a collection
of 12 songs with 9 originals; 2 co-written with Bitty Mclean.
Justin and Bitty kick off The Dreaming Kind
with an R&B rendition of the Extreme classic
"More
Than Words," then get into
"The Call," and groove to "Get It Right," which they
co-wrote. Also appearing with Justin are Norm and B.E.T. who will get you
moving to Toots and the Maytals'
"Perfect
Peace," a song that was an audience favorite during a series of
shows they performed together on the mainland. Island tunes include
"This
Local Boy,"
"If
You Pick These Flowers," and
"The
Dreaming Kind" with a beautiful Hawaiian translation by Kua`ana
Lewis. (The Dreaming Kind will be available in stores on July 12, 2001.
Bitty Mclean will release his latest CD this Fall).
